Ecopanel is a prefabricated, weathertight, fully insulated wall system, locally manufactured in Canterbury using New Zealand timber, non-toxic insulation, and high-performance building wraps. Produced in a factory and delivered to site ready for installation, the system combines speed, precision, and sustainability.

Blending the efficiencies of prefabrication with bespoke craftsmanship and environmentally responsible construction, Ecopanel offers an affordable, sustainable, and non-toxic solution for modern homes.

As the designer behind the brand, my challenge was to embody the product’s most important function — protection. The branding needed to reflect the integrity of the weathertight membrane wrap at the core of the panel system, while also capturing the craftsmanship and innovation behind the product itself.

It quickly became clear that the “Made in New Zealand” story was central to the brand. I developed an identity that felt refined, architectural, caring, and distinctly local — celebrating a product designed for New Zealand conditions and proudly made right here in Canterbury.

The kiwi motif then evolves into a complex geometric pattern, symbolising the system’s airtightness and internal vapour control. Much like the Ecopanel structure itself, the pattern represents protection, performance, and the reduction of energy loss through the building’s thermal envelope.

Designed in 2018, the brand continues to sell organically through the proven performance of the product itself, alongside a consistent visual identity that the industry has developed a strong connection to over time.
